The Last Echoes of Life
Sergeant James Murphy ( 1725 - 69) is lying on the battlefield's grassland, wounded by a ricochet bullet hitting his left lung. Rescuers came to his aid, but he refused to be taken away as he sensed the tide turning in his favour. He ordered his last resort of 3000 men laying await below the field's bottom hill to surprise attack the enemy from the side. The bold plan succeeded as the enemy was worned out, many were fatally wounded, and the added element of surprise caused confusion and chaos.
Murphy layed there smiling, a smile that shone brightly as he gazed upon the retreating enemy and advancing troops pushing forward for the final blow towards a decisive victory. He had managed to survive long enough to witness this momentous occasion.
His last words echoed with pride, "For my country, for freedom, I am now free... Carolyn."

I've honed the skill of distinguishing the rhythm of each prison guard footsteps. Scorching summers, colder in the winter - and within these walls, hides my innermost secrets, I whisper into the embracing darkness each night. Dreams of freedom has faded, when bedsheets has become my woman. I have become one with this desolate realm. Here, I will soon draw my last breath, taking my final stand against the inevitable death."
The letter goes on to paint a picture of his confinement, both within the prison walls and within his own mind. His heartrending account chronicled his evolution from a twisted youth to a withering man, resigned to his fate. The cell, the bars, the solitude – they became his confidants. The truth is Wolfe preferred his prison cell than the outside world. He yearned for death's embrace within those walls.
